Stylish and comfortable

These boots are very comfortable. They look great with skinny jeans or tights and a dress. It's wonderful to have a boot fit your calf perfectly.

If only this came in a larger shoe size

I tried this boot, advertised as a UK size 9, but sadly it was too short in the foot so I had to return. It felt like a UK size 8 to be honest. Such a shame as it's a really lovely style. Please consider making this boot in your largest foot size, which I guess would be your size 10. In fact, please make more casual/comfortable/flat styles like this full stop. A lot of us long for the return of the 'Malmo' boot, which was a superb relaxed and comfortable design. By the way, your sizing is a bit confusing. As far as I'm aware shoe size equivalents are: UK 9 EU 43 US 11.5

Musgrave boots

Love these boots.Stylish, fit well, comfortable and good leather although I would have preferred boot to be one piece of leather front wise without the seam..

So excited to see this boot back. Hugely disappointed that the ankle is so narrow I can't do the boots up. They're heading their way back to you. The search continues for the perfect boot.

I've been looking for some boots for the winter that I can both wear to work and use for casual/smart wear too, so of course my first thought was Duo. When I saw these online they looked great and with the slim cut ankle, perfect for my small (21cm!) ankles. I am a standard uk7 and my previous beloved Minerva's which have a much narrower foot style are a 7 and 35cm calf, so I ordered this size again for the Musgrave (my Minervas have been relegated for special occasions only as the heel height isn't good for me for everyday since i sprained my ankle a couple of times) . I don't know what Duo have done over the last few years with their sizing, but something seems to be a bit off. My right foot is more 6.5 and my left a standard 7, and as the fit guide says half sizes go down, I thought I would be safe with size 7. Right foot was a perfect fit on the foot, but my left was too snug for comfort, especially in the width, even without the insole, odd as the boots are a wider foot style to my other pair. Then there was the baggy ankle, and the 35cm calf was a bit too tight for comfort (i had measured my calf before ordering as it has been a few years since the last pair). I like my boots to be snug on the leg to minimalise bagging at the ankle, which i hate. Not deterred, i decided to order a foot size up (uk8), and was thinking i would go for a 37cm calf to allow some room for winter socks, but once you go up to a size 8 the smallest calf width is 39cm - i decided to order them anyway and figured i could always wear 2 pairs of long socks if needed. Foot size for the 8 was great and calf fine with one pair of socks (even with a little gap at the top of the boot), but still this awful baggy ankle. So i got my beloved Minervas out of the wardrobe to compare and to see if i could find a difference in the boot structures, and realised that the problem with Musgrave is the way that the lower boot is cut with the tongue shape. This gives no structure for the upper, and of course causes the bagging where the upper boot material is a lesser quality than the lower. My Minervas are cut with the lower as a basic ankle boot, and the upper attached with a straight horizontal seam, giving structure to the ankle area and minimal bagginess. So my next thought was to have a look at other boots cut in this way - i was sad to find that nearly all of Duo's knee high boots are now cut with this tongue shaped structure, and on looking at them all it appears that the leather used in the upper is of lesser thickness/quality of the lower part of the boot. I cant help but feel that this is an economy saving measure on Duo's part. I also seem to recall from when i ordered my Minervas (aprox 7 years ago), at that time you could select each boot in a variety of ankle widths, as i remember specifically selecting the slim cut ankle - giving a more bespoke boot for each person - this also seems to have been done away with and the ankle width is set for each boot. I am now considering the raven boot as they appear to have much more structure in the lower, but am sceptical due to the standard ankle width of that boot, an on looking at the video of them, not convinced that bagginess also wont be an issue. I am aware that with size 7 feet and very slim ankles, it is always going to be difficult for me to get the right fit, but that's why i came to Duo as my previous boots fit perfectly. My other gripe is the lack of an exchange service for orders and i think Duo really do need to get this looked at - having to buy another pair outright in a different size, before a refund for the first pair is processed is very onerous, and not something everyone can necessarily afford to do. It would be much better if you could select an alternative size of the same boot on the returns form and just wait for the new ones to come - but again, i suspect this is Duo's way of cost cutting as then they aren't paying the postage on the replacement pair. All in all i am a little disappointed with Duo's change in direction and the boots now feel more standardised and "off the rack". Please go back to a more bespoke fitting boot, giving a variety of ankle widths for each style - its what made Duo so unique!
